What are Microgreens?

Microgreens are a stage in a plant’s life. They are the next stage after a sprout and before the plant matures. They are grown in soil or another medium, sometimes coconut fiber. Many microgreens are only grown for 10-14 days before they are harvested and ready to eat.

Why Eat Microgreens?

Microgreens are nutrient dense and delicious. They are very high in vitamins and antioxidants. Being high in dietary fiber means they are great for your gut health. Different greens contain different amounts of nutrients, such as vitamins A and C, and a whole range more.

Not only are they healthy but they are a tasty fun way to get your greens into your diet.

Ways to eat microgreens

You can enjoy microgreens in salads, sandwiches, burgers, and soups. Why stop there though? They are great in omelets or sprinkled over scrambled eggs.

How about a grilled ham and cheese with a sprinkling of pea shoots and micro radish?

Sliced avocado with a fried egg and a pile of microgreens is a delicious healthy breakfast. Really the possibilities are endless. It is a great way to add extra fresh greens to any meal.
